Understanding Breast Cancer in Singapore

Did you know that breast cancer is the leading cancer among women in Singapore?

Did you know that it is also the leading cause of cancer deaths in women?


A study published by the National Care Center of Singapore showed that between 2014 and 2018, about six breast cancer cases were diagnosed each day.



Also, around 13 women will develop breast cancer by the age of 72 years old!

Such cancer affects women of older age yet 6 out these 13 will be diagnosed at the age below 45 years old.



You can avoid to be diagnosed with breast cancer. If you do a Regular mammogram screening you will be able to detect breast cancer early.

Unfortunately more than 60% of women aged 50 to 69 years are skipping such health screening. Too lazy, or too expensive, they prefer closing one eye rather do a simple step toward testing.



The Singapore Cancer Society offers the opportunity to get easily informed and find ways to get the best health screening in town.

You also have ways to reduce your breast cancer risk by adopting some easy behavior and lifestyle habits.

Medication can play an essential role in breast cancer prevention even if you should consider natural ways first such as:

  1. Control your Weight : A healthy weight reduces breast cancer risk in women, and promote overall cardiovascular, bone, and mental health. Keep in control to maintain your ideal weight.

  2. Watch your diet : The importance of a healthy diet and how it can benefit the body is widely acknowledged. However, people often fail to incorporate it into their lifestyle. If you are looking for methods to reduce the risk of breast cancer, consuming a balanced and healthy diet must be a primary step.

  3. Do not skip exercise: Staying physically active has been associated with the reduced risk of various physical and mental health conditions. Practising a regular exercise routine may also benefit women in preventing breast cancer risk. Experts suggest at least 150 minutes of exercise every week.

  4. the importance of an healthy lifestyle : Consuming alcohol, smoking, substance abuse, and following a sedentary lifestyle can increase the risk of break cancer. Therefore, practising a clean lifestyle must be taken into consideration to prevent cancer and the risk of other health complications.

  5. Get a good doctor: Certain medications, contraceptives, and hormone replacement therapy may increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Make sure that you stay in touch with your doctor and assess your options of treatment for conditions and contraception.
